NEW - Active Parenting of Teens: Families in Action Workshop Series

Free, 3-part Evidence-based Parenting Education Program Open to anyone in the UCI Community and the public. Parents and caregivers of middle school-aged youth are encouraged to attend to strengthen family relationships and educate parents on how to guide their children to lead healthy lives. You will learn that simple, everyday tasks, conversations, and activities can have positive effects on today’s youth and increase protective factors that prevent and reduce alcohol and other drug use and other risky behaviors. Spouses/partners, grandparents, and any caretakers are encouraged to attend. Pregnancy Disability
12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
UC Irvine Medical Center, Orange, CA - multiple locations
This course will provide information to medical center staff on the pregnancy disability process.  It will cover the following areas: leave entitlements (PDL, FMLA, CFRA); disability benefits (Liberty Mutual); benefits; and leave paperwork/process. Presented by a Human Resources Disability Consultant.

Prepared Childbirth
This five-class series equips parents-to-be with the skills they need for a successful and positive birth experience. Bring two pillows, a towel or mat and a partner to each class. This class is free to all participants. Available in Spanish. View Prepared Childbirth Schedule and Register >

Newborn Care
Pregnant women and their birth partners in their last trimester of pregnancy can benefit from this class. Infant feeding, dressing, bathing, diapering, normal newborn appearance and signs and symptoms of illness will be discussed. Registration is required. Breastfeeding
This class is for pregnant women in their third trimester of pregnancy, as well as their birth partners. Discussion topics include the process of milk production, how to breastfeed, avoiding potential problems and returning to work. Registration is required.
