UCI HR Wellness and Faculty and Staff Support Services: Mental Health First Aid Webinar

Mental Health First Aid is an course provided by The National Council for Behavioral Health that gives people the skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The evidence behind the program demonstrates that it builds mental health literacy, helping the public identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness.

HR Wellness and Faculty and Staff Support Services invites all UCI community members to join the National Council for Behavioral Health for a special COVID-19 specific Mental Health First Aid Webinar to help address and support current work environments.

Resourceful, Resilient and Remote Employees: Mental Health First Aid in the New Work Environment - Recording Available Soon

Changes to workflow and work environments can be disruptive and stressful. Please join us for a special learning opportunity exploring the principles and practice of Mental Health First Aid in the workplace during the COVID-19 pandemic. To combat feelings of loneliness, isolation and anxiety that may emerge, we will discuss tools and best practices from Mental Health First Aid as we honor recommendations for physical distancing. This session will share information on best practices and guidance on how to support each other and ourselves during this crisis. We will host discussion on areas of most pressing concern, with a focus on the impact of trauma, the importance of team engagement, and self-care and mindfulness as we all cope with these challenges.

  • Demonstrate how the MHFA Action Plan can be used in your current work environment.
  • Explore how leading mental health ambassadors are implementing support strategies into their corporate environments.
  • Identify four signs of stress in the remote work environment and how to apply self-care strategies to build resilience.
  • Incorporate team-building and effective support techniques while working from home.
  • Review new recommended MHFA resources.
